The New Cairo Misdemeanors Court has scheduled March 18 for the ruling on a businessman accused of assaulting a security guard in a gated community in the Fifth Settlement area.
During the hearing, the defense requested annulment of the investigations, stating that the inquiries did not identify the video’s recorder or purpose, and that the circulated clip had been edited, failing to show the full incident from the beginning. The defense also demanded acquittal on charges of damaging the security company’s radio device, citing lack of evidence.
Meanwhile, the defense announced its withdrawal from the case, which was recorded in court minutes, allowing the accused to appoint new legal representation.
This case attracted widespread attention on social media after the incident involving a security guard performing his duties inside the community was circulated online.
The security guard’s lawyer called for the maximum legal penalty against the businessman, along with civil compensation for material and psychological damages suffered by his client. The lawyer noted that the assault included verbal abuse and actions causing significant emotional distress.
He emphasized that rumors about financial settlements outside the legal framework are baseless, and that the legal team insists on applying the referral provisions and seeking the highest legal punishment alongside proper civil compensation.
Investigations included hearing statements from both parties to clarify the details of the incident following its circulation online.
