A woman filed a complaint accusing an interior designer in Hadayek Helwan of fraud after he allegedly took 120,000 Egyptian pounds from her and her fiancé to manufacture home furniture but failed to deliver it on the agreed date. The delay reportedly forced the couple to postpone their wedding several times.
According to the complaint, the agreement was made in February 2025 to produce three bedrooms, a dining set, and a living room set, with delivery scheduled for May of the same year. The contract was signed electronically in PDF format due to mutual trust between the parties.
The woman explained that almost the entire payment was made, with only 5,000 pounds remaining. However, the designer repeatedly delayed delivery for months before providing only part of the furniture by the end of 2025. The delivered items were reportedly of poor quality and did not match the agreed specifications.
She also stated that the dining table was delivered without chairs and with lighter materials than agreed upon, while the bedroom set had a different finishing than promised, and several pieces of furniture were never delivered.
The woman said she filed an official complaint with the Consumer Protection Authority and gave the designer a deadline to deliver the remaining furniture, but he stopped responding and his workplace was later found closed.
She added that the designer later claimed the contract value was higher than originally agreed and demanded an additional payment, sending a legal notice claiming the furniture was ready while requesting extra compensation.
