In a sudden development, media personality Yasmin El-Khatib revealed she is facing a severe bacterial infection in her face during Ramadan, which required urgent surgery to remove three large abscesses beneath the skin.
El-Khatib explained on her official social media page that swelling appeared on the first day of filming, but she did not anticipate the severity of the infection. Her health remains unstable, leading to a temporary halt in filming, and she asked her followers for prayers for a speedy recovery.
Dr. Emad Zahran, a consultant in dermatology, explained that deep bacterial infections occur when bacteria penetrate the inner layers of the skin, often through small cuts or infected hair follicles, causing severe inflammation and pus collection known as an abscess. He added that facial infections are particularly risky due to the proximity to major blood vessels, and large or deep abscesses may require urgent surgical intervention with careful post-operative monitoring to prevent recurrence.
Many of her followers expressed concern and support for El-Khatib, wishing her a quick recovery and return to her media activities soon.
