A shocking crime shook the residents of Sharqia Governorate as security forces arrested a driver accused of killing a young man and injuring four of his relatives following a violent altercation over neighborhood disputes in Mit Hamel village, Belbeis Center.

Major General Amr Raouf, Director of Sharqia Security, received a report from Colonel Mamour Shahin, Chief of Belbeis Police Station, regarding a fatal stabbing incident in the village. Upon arriving at the scene, investigators found that the victim, Mostafa A.M., aged 22, had died from multiple stab wounds, while four of his family members, including his mother and aunt, sustained serious injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the perpetrator, Atef R., 36, a driver, had engaged in a heated argument with his neighbors that quickly escalated into violence. The suspect allegedly used a bladed weapon (knife) to attack the victims before fleeing the scene. However, police managed to apprehend him shortly after and seized the weapon used in the crime.

The victim’s body was transferred to Al-Ahrar Hospital morgue in Zagazig, while the injured victims received treatment at Belbeis Central Hospital.

A police report was filed, and the suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution, which ordered his detention for four days pending investigation. The prosecution also requested a forensic autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and the type of weapon used, and ordered further police investigations to uncover the full circumstances of the incident.
