Security forces in Sharqia Governorate successfully solved the mystery of a student’s murder within just 24 hours, in a case that shocked and saddened the local community, following intensive investigations by the Zagazig police department.
The case began when the body of a 14-year-old student, “Mariam S.,” a second-year preparatory school student, was discovered inside a house adjacent to her family’s residence in the village of Mishtoul Al-Qadi, within the jurisdiction of the center.
Investigations revealed that the perpetrators were her neighbor, “Salma M.” (17 years old), and her brother “Abdullah,” both students. They lured the victim into the house, assaulted her, and strangled her, leaving the body inside after their attempts to conceal the crime failed.
Preliminary findings indicated that the motive behind the crime was theft, as the suspects targeted the victim’s mobile phone and gold earring. Security forces quickly identified and apprehended the suspects within a short time.
Upon interrogation, both confessed to the crime. The necessary legal report was filed, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution, which ordered the transfer of the body to Al-Ahrar Hospital morgue for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, pending further legal procedures.
Authorities continue to take legal action against the suspects as part of ongoing efforts to swiftly resolve cases and maintain public safety and security.
