Anniversary of Abla Al-Kahlawi’s Death: The Journey of “Al-Baqiyat Al-Salihat” Founder
On her memorial day, Abla Al-Kahlawi’s story returns as a light of knowledge, compassion, and faith that continues beyond life.
On January 24, Egypt and the Islamic world remember scholar and preacher Dr. Abla Al-Kahlawi, who passed away in 2021 after contracting COVID-19, leaving behind a legacy written in mercy and service.
Born to the famous chanter Mohamed Al-Kahlawi, she chose a path of knowledge, studying Islamic law at Al-Azhar University. She earned her Master’s degree in comparative jurisprudence in 1974 and her PhD in 1978.
She taught in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, led the Sharia Department in Makkah, and delivered daily lessons for women at the Grand Mosque. Later in Egypt, she combined academic work with public preaching at Al-Azhar Mosque.
Her greatest humanitarian mark was founding Al-Baqiyat Al-Salihat Foundation, caring for orphans, cancer patients, elderly people, and Alzheimer’s sufferers, believing that dignity is part of worship.
She warned against social neglect, misuse of media, and fragile family choices, always calling for balance between faith, compassion, and responsibility.
Her body departed, but her impact remains alive in every heart she healed and every soul she guided.
