On a day when mercy descends like rain and hearts stand in humility before bodies do, Arafat Day emerges as the most profound spiritual moment of Hajj.

Pilgrims gather at Mount Arafat, also known as the Mount of Mercy, located between Mecca and Taif, about 22 km from Mecca, 10 km from Mina, and 6 km from Muzdalifah.

The journey begins after spending the night in Mina, as pilgrims head to Arafat at sunrise, reciting the talbiyah with devotion.

Upon arrival, they may stay in Namirah if possible, and at noon they listen to the sermon and perform Dhuhr and Asr prayers combined and shortened.

The rest of the day is filled with remembrance, supplication, and seeking forgiveness until sunset, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

Mount Arafat is called the Mount of Mercy due to the blessings and divine mercy that descend upon pilgrims, where prayers are answered and sins forgiven.

It is also known by other names such as Mount Al-Qareen, Mount Al-Nabit, and Mount Ilal, each reflecting historical and spiritual meanings.

A well-known narration states that Prophet Adam and Eve met and recognized each other at this location after descending to earth, which is why it was named Arafat.

Standing at Arafat is the core pillar of Hajj and the only ritual performed outside the sacred boundaries, giving it a unique and profound significance.

Arafat is not just a place or time—it is a moment of return, where the soul melts in supplication, seeking mercy and a new beginning.
