Dar Al-Iftaa: Marriage Is a Relationship of Cooperation and Harmony, Not Competition
Egypt’s Dar Al-Iftaa emphasized that marriage in Islam is a bond built on affection, mercy, and partnership—not rivalry or competition. The institution called for wise management of family conflicts and highlighted the importance of premarital education to preserve family stability.
Egypt’s Dar Al-Iftaa stated that the details of marital life should remain private within the home, urging couples to resolve their disputes calmly without involving their families unless absolutely necessary. The statement stressed the role of both families in preparing and guiding couples with the life skills needed for a successful and lasting marriage.
Dar Al-Iftaa explained that the foundations of family life are built upon love, tranquility, and compassion rather than merely rights and duties, noting that genuine affection gives meaning to marriage and nurtures boundless generosity between spouses.
The institution further clarified that Islam views marriage as a relationship of construction and cooperation, aiming for social harmony and shared responsibility—not a contest of equals. It underlined the importance of mutual consultation, understanding, and appreciation between partners as key principles for a balanced marital life.
Highlighting that disagreements are a natural part of family life, Dar Al-Iftaa called for a civilized approach to managing them, emphasizing that wise families are those who contain disputes before they escalate.
As part of its social mission, Dar Al-Iftaa continues to promote family cohesion and reduce divorce rates by organizing awareness programs and premarital training courses that help young couples understand the essence of marriage and their mutual responsibilities.
The institution concluded by noting that attending these courses has become increasingly vital, as many overlook the seriousness of marriage. Such programs, it said, provide the knowledge and understanding necessary for building stable and compassionate families.
