Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta to Sight Jumada Al-Akhira Crescent Tomorrow
Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta will sight the crescent of Jumada Al-Akhira on Thursday, November 20, 2025, approaching Ramadan 2026.
The Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta will sight the crescent of Jumada Al-Akhira tomorrow, Thursday, after sunset of 29 Jumada Al-Awwal 1447 H, corresponding to November 20, 2025, approximately 90 days before Ramadan 2026.
If the crescent is sighted, Thursday will complete Jumada Al-Awwal, and Friday, November 21, will be the first day of Jumada Al-Akhira. If not, Friday will complete the month, and the new month will start on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Crescent Sighting Method
Dar Al-Ifta clarified that the sighting is carried out by six specialized committees combining religious scholars, astronomers, and survey experts, located across Egypt with coordination from governors to ensure optimal conditions for crescent observation.
Astronomical calculations are used to determine the crescent’s birth time and visibility duration after sunset, but they do not override valid visual sightings.
The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics reported that the crescent will be born on Thursday, 29 Jumada Al-Awwal, at 8:48 AM Cairo time, setting in Cairo 10 minutes before sunset, and in Mecca 4 minutes before sunset. In other regions, sunset times vary between 4 to 10 minutes.
Calculations indicate that Friday, November 21, will complete Jumada Al-Awwal 1447, making Saturday, November 22, 2025, the astronomical first day of Jumada Al-Akhira, allowing precise tracking of blessed days and preparation for the month of fasting and worship.
