How the Prophet Treated Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn: His Love and Protective Prayer
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ deeply loved his grandsons Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn. He carried them, prayed for them, and said, “O Allah, I love them, so love them.” His affection reflected both the warmth of a grandfather and the mercy of a prophet.
Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn were not just grandchildren to the Prophet ﷺ; they were symbols of purity, love, and the continuation of his blessed lineage. According to Sahih al-Bukhari, the Prophet would embrace them and say, “O Allah, I love them, so love them,” showing a tenderness unmatched in history.
Whenever they approached him, the Prophet ﷺ would lower his noble neck so they could climb onto his shoulders — a gesture of humility and compassion. He declared, “Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise,” and said, “Husayn is from me, and I am from Husayn. May Allah love whoever loves Husayn.”
The Prophet also protected his grandsons with a powerful supplication. Ibn Abbas narrated that he used to say: “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and poisonous creature and from every envious eye.” These twelve words became a legacy of divine protection for generations of believers.
