Dr. Hesham Rabie, Secretary of Fatwa, sparked notable discussion after addressing the issue of inappropriate comments on social media during holiday celebrations, emphasizing that such behavior does not reflect the true spirit of religion or coexistence.

He clarified that greeting non-Muslims on their occasions is religiously permissible and aligns with values of tolerance and humanity, noting that placing certain phrases in inappropriate contexts on congratulatory posts can be seen as disrespectful or provocative.

He added that these types of comments often lead to unnecessary arguments and can hurt others’ feelings without any meaningful benefit, stressing that religion promotes kindness and respectful communication rather than imposing beliefs in unsuitable contexts.

He further advised that those who disagree with such practices should simply ignore them instead of engaging in unproductive debates, preserving mutual respect and social harmony.

He concluded with a call to strengthen unity and compassion, reminding that society is built on shared values and responsible behavior, especially in the digital age where interactions are amplified.
