The Muslim Council of Elders, led by His Eminence Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, has welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached in the Gaza Strip, describing it as a vital turning point toward ending the severe humanitarian crisis endured by the Palestinian people for over two years of relentless aggression that left behind vast destruction, loss of lives, and suffering.

In its statement released on Thursday, the Council affirmed that the ceasefire represents a long-awaited hope for innocent civilians to reclaim their right to live in safety and dignity. It urged all parties to commit seriously to implementing the agreement’s terms at every stage, paving the way toward a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace that guarantees the Palestinian people their inalienable rights, including the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Council expressed its deep appreciation for the tireless mediation efforts led by the Arab Republic of Egypt, alongside Qatar, Turkey, and the United States, as well as the contributions of various Arab, Islamic, and international partners who worked toward achieving this crucial agreement.

It further called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to intensify relief efforts, deliver urgent aid to those affected, and support the reconstruction of homes and infrastructure destroyed during the conflict.

Concluding its statement, the Muslim Council of Elders reaffirmed that genuine peace can only be achieved through the end of occupation and the recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to freedom, dignity, and self-determination, urging the global conscience to stand firmly against ongoing injustices and to support the quest for peace and justice in Palestine.
