Supplication for Relief from Distress: Words that Open the Gates of Ease
Dar al-Ifta explained the best supplications to relieve hardship, highlighting four powerful phrases that protect from calamities and bring divine relief.
Life is filled with trials and moments of deep sorrow, but God has granted His servants the gift of du‘a—supplication—as a refuge and means of deliverance.
Dar al-Ifta urged everyone facing hardship to turn to God with sincerity and repeat the Prophetic prayer:
“There is no god but Allah, the Great, the Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the Great Throne. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth, and Lord of the Noble Throne.”
This powerful supplication was often recited by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during times of distress, reminding believers of God’s greatness, mercy, and control over all things.
Other authentic prayers include:
“O my Lord, how can I call upon You while I am who I am, and how can I cut off hope in You while You are You…” expressing utter humility and dependence on divine mercy.
“O Allah, help me and not against me…” a call for strength, guidance, and victory over hardship.
“O Allah, in Your planning is sufficiency beyond all means…” surrendering all affairs to God’s wisdom.
“O Allah, make all Your creation subservient to me as You made the sea obedient to Moses…” a supplication for ease, trust, and divine support.
Dar al-Ifta affirmed that sincere prayer never goes unanswered, for God replaces sadness with joy and hardship with relief. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“No one suffers sorrow or grief and says, ‘O Allah, I am Your servant…’ except that Allah removes his sorrow and replaces it with happiness.”
