True Reliance on God Is Not Negligence, Al-Azhar Scholar Explains Its Meaning
An Al-Azhar professor clarifies the true concept of reliance on God, emphasizing that it requires effort, planning, and responsibility rather than neglect.
Professor Hani Tamam, assistant professor of Islamic jurisprudence at Al-Azhar University, explained that true reliance on God in Islam does not mean abandoning effort, but rather combining taking the necessary means with sincere trust in God regarding outcomes.
He stressed that reliance on God cannot be used as an excuse for negligence or random behavior in daily life matters, noting that Islamic teachings call for discipline and organization in all aspects of life, including worship and everyday interactions, as this leads to balance and awareness of blessings.
He pointed out that disorder in actions may prevent individuals from fully benefiting from the blessings granted to them by God, while proper planning and commitment reflect a practical understanding of true reliance and help achieve success and satisfaction in both worldly and spiritual life.
He also highlighted that human responsibility extends to preserving resources and using them wisely, whether at home or in public spaces, considering them a trust that must be protected and not wasted.
Furthermore, he explained that gratitude is not only expressed verbally but also through actions, such as maintaining and conserving resources like water and electricity, which aligns with the Islamic principle that gratitude leads to an increase in blessings.
He concluded by affirming that a person is responsible for contributing to a balanced and productive life that combines sincere reliance on God with diligent effort, ensuring stability, awareness, and meaningful use of available resources.
