Apple continues iPhone Air production despite rumors of manufacturing cuts
Despite reports suggesting lower demand, Apple remains committed to its iPhone Air production plan for 2025, showing full confidence in the ultra-slim model.
Apple is reportedly continuing its iPhone Air production without any reductions, despite growing rumors that the company might cut output due to weaker global demand 📱.
According to a report from TD Cowen, Apple has made no changes to its 2025 production targets, reaffirming its confidence in the upcoming ultra-thin iPhone model.
While several leaks hinted at potential production cuts, the latest TD Cowen note refutes those claims, stating that Apple’s October production plans remain stable, with 3 million units expected in Q3 and 7 million units in Q4 of 2025.
The report also notes that iPhone 17 series production remains steady — around 54 million units for the September quarter and 79 million for December — contradicting earlier claims of disruptions in Apple’s supply chain.
Previous reports from Mizuho Securities Japan suggested Apple reduced iPhone Air orders by one million units, while analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that some suppliers scaled back capacity. Nikkei Asia even quoted one supplier saying that “iPhone Air is nearing the end of its production cycle.”
However, TD Cowen’s on-ground research within Apple’s supply chain found no evidence of any reduction in output, suggesting that the earlier rumors were premature.
Analysts added that steady production doesn’t necessarily mean strong short-term sales, but Apple continues to benefit from its flexible “just-in-time” manufacturing model, allowing it to adjust production quickly in response to market shifts.
Historically, Apple’s Pro models lead in early sales, while standard editions like the iPhone Air gain momentum later in the year. This makes the iPhone Air part of Apple’s long-term diversification strategy, focusing on sleek design and broader market reach 🌍.
