Instagram has officially rolled out a new feature called “Watch History”, giving users the ability to view all Reels they’ve watched before, even if they didn’t save them.
This long-requested update aims to make it easier for users to find memorable clips they may have skipped or lost due to app closures or interruptions. The feature can be accessed through Profile > Settings > Your Activity > Watch History, where users can browse their previously viewed Reels in a chronological list.
The new feature allows users to filter their watch history by date, delete specific videos, or even sort them by creator name in ascending or descending order, offering far more flexibility compared to TikTok’s similar function.
According to Instagram’s head, the update was designed to simplify user experience and improve content rediscovery, especially for those who accidentally lose track of a video they enjoyed.
This addition is part of Instagram’s ongoing effort to narrow the gap with TikTok in short-form video innovation. Recently, the platform introduced features like Reel series linking and Picture-in-Picture playback, both aimed at making content consumption more engaging and seamless.
With “Watch History,” Instagram continues to refine its Reels ecosystem — giving users more control, convenience, and connection to the videos they love.
