With its next update, One UI 8.5, Samsung aims to solve one of the most common smartphone issues — notification clutter.
Inspired by Apple’s iOS 18.4, the company introduces a smarter and more private way to manage alerts, leveraging the power of Galaxy AI.
The New Feature: Priority and Smart Control
Leaks suggest that users will soon be able to assign priority levels to their notifications in two modes:
Manual Control – Select which apps are most important to appear first.
Smart AI Mode – Let Galaxy AI automatically determine the most relevant notifications based on real usage behavior.
Samsung confirmed that all notification processing will occur locally on the device, ensuring maximum privacy without requiring extra permissions from apps.
Inspired by Apple — But with a Samsung Touch
Apple first introduced smart notification grouping in iOS 18.4, separating important people and app alerts at the top of the Notification Center.
Samsung now brings a similar feature to its ecosystem via One UI 8.5, optimized for Galaxy S25 and S26 devices, adding deeper AI-driven personalization.
User Reactions
A survey revealed that around 60% of Samsung users welcome the idea of AI-managed notifications — as long as it doesn’t compromise privacy.
Others still prefer manual sorting, suggesting Samsung’s dual-mode approach is the right balance between control and automation.
Release Timeline
The One UI 8.5 update is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy S25 and S26 in early 2026, with beta testing rolling out to selected users starting November 2025.
Later, the update will extend to newer Galaxy models such as Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
