Medhat Shalaby reveals the inside story of Al Ahly’s salary dispute… Find out which players the management has settled demands with.
Several Al Ahly players requested adjustments to their financial contracts, and the management approved some requests while rejecting others based on performance.
In recent times, there have been clear and ongoing moves by a large number of Al Ahly players who have officially requested adjustments to their financial contracts, due to the noticeable differences in salaries within the first football team. This comes as part of the players’ desire to receive dues that reflect their technical value and level of participation in matches.
Media personality Medhat Shalaby, while presenting the show “Ya Masa’ Al Anwar” on MBC Masr 2, explained that Al Ahly’s management has responded positively to some of these requests. Among the main beneficiaries was player Emam Ashour, whose contract was adjusted to match his role and performance within the team.
On the other hand, Shalaby noted that the club’s sporting director, Mohamed Youssef, rejected Hussein El Shahat’s request for a salary increase. El Shahat currently earns 16 million EGP per season, placing him in the top salary category within the team. However, his limited playing time recently was the main reason the management denied his request, as the club aims to maintain a balanced salary structure based on each player’s actual achievements.
Shalaby also revealed that Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” and Marwan Atiya earn salaries in the second category, around 12 million EGP. The management informed them that their contract renewal and adjustments are under review based on their performance and match participation, reflecting Al Ahly’s commitment to fair contracts that encourage players to give their best.
Regarding younger players such as Mostafa Shobeir, Mostafa Makhlouf, Ahmed Nabil “Koka,” and Karim El Debes, Shalaby clarified that their salaries are noticeably lower compared to senior team members. However, the club closely monitors their technical progress and playing time and is considering reevaluating their contracts as their performance improves, aiming to motivate them and ensure their stability within the club.
This file reflects the administration’s professional and balanced approach to managing salaries, ensuring no significant gaps between players and motivating everyone to work diligently for the team’s benefit, especially amid local and continental competitions Al Ahly participates in.
Ultimately, players’ movements and their contract demands reflect their desire for recognition of their continuous efforts. The club’s management, for its part, is keen to handle these matters wisely and flexibly to maintain team stability and promote a positive competitive spirit among players.
