Mohamed Kesho Bids Farewell to the Mat: A Tough Decision Ends a Golden Journey
Mohamed Kesho officially announces his retirement from wrestling after a journey full of achievements, expressing gratitude to everyone who supported him along the way.
In a heartfelt move that marked the end of an exceptional chapter in his career, Mohamed Ibrahim Kesho — one of Egypt’s most iconic Greco-Roman wrestling champions — officially announced his retirement from the sport, closing the curtain on years of dedication, sacrifice, and glory that saw him raise Egypt’s flag high on international podiums.
Kesho, an Olympic medalist, shared the news on his official Facebook page, writing:
“After many years of hard work, perseverance, and challenges — after honoring my country and raising its flag everywhere, and turning dreams into reality by standing on the podium — I’ve finally made the toughest decision of my athletic life: I officially announce my retirement from wrestling.”
He continued in an emotional tone:
“This decision wasn’t easy at all. Wrestling wasn’t just a sport to me… it was my entire life. It shaped who I am, built my name, and became my true outlet during the toughest times. I thank God for every single moment I lived on the mat — every moment of victory, every tear of exhaustion, every cheer from the crowd, and every time I heard my name being called.”
The Olympic champion added:
“From the bottom of my heart, I thank every coach who supported me and believed in my abilities, every teammate who had my back, and everyone who shared this journey with me — even with just kind words or a sincere prayer. This path was never easy, but it was worth every step, and each moment will forever remain engraved in me.”
He concluded his message with gratitude and love:
“Thank you to wrestling, for teaching me the true meaning of discipline, strength, and resilience. Thank you to my country, which stood by me. And thank you to my fans, who were always my backbone. Maybe my journey as a competitor has ended, but my passion for wrestling and sports will never fade.”
