Manchester United officially announced today the signing of 22-year-old striker Benjamin Šeško from RB Leipzig, in a deal worth approximately €76.5 million, with an additional €8.5 million in add-ons. The Slovenian forward has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2030.
Ambition Over Money
Despite receiving a higher offer of €82.5 million from Newcastle United, Šeško chose to join Manchester United, citing the sporting project presented by the coaching staff. He noted that the club’s future and its prestigious status were key motivators in his decision to come to Old Trafford.
A Reinforced Attack
Šeško’s arrival adds further strength to a newly revamped attacking line, following the earlier signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. The club is determined to fix the attacking deficiencies that plagued last season.
Elite Qualities and High Expectations
United’s sporting director Jason Wilcox described Šeško as one of the world’s top young talents, highlighting his aerial prowess, technical skill, and physical dominance in key areas on the pitch.
Official Presentation at Old Trafford Ahead of Fiorentina Friendly
Šeško completed his medical and was presented officially at Old Trafford, ahead of an upcoming friendly against Fiorentina.
A Crucial Step in United’s Rebuild
The signing is part of a larger rebuild strategy following a disastrous season that ended with United in 15th place in the Premier League and registering one of the club’s lowest goal tallies in modern history. The club’s summer spending has now exceeded £200 million, with this deal considered a major step toward restoring the team’s attacking strength and competitiveness.
