Senegal Coach Warns Fans Against Donation Campaigns in His Name
Senegal manager Pape Thiaw urges fans not to organize donation campaigns in his name after being suspended and fined by CAF following the Africa Cup of Nations final.
Pape Thiaw, head coach of the Senegal national team, addressed Senegalese fans following sanctions imposed on him after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, which included a five-match suspension and a $100,000 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct and harming the integrity of the game.
In response to fans launching online donation campaigns to support him, Thiaw posted a heartfelt message on his official Instagram account, asking supporters to direct their contributions to those in greater need rather than donating in his name.
Thiaw stated: "People of Senegal, my family, your support since the announcement of the sanctions touches me deeply. Thank you for the love you show me every day. I kindly ask you not to organize donation campaigns in my name and consider directing these funds to more urgent causes."
This step reflects the Senegalese coach’s humility and social responsibility, highlighting his deep appreciation for the fans without seeking personal financial benefit.
