Valencia strongly responds to the Vinicius documentary and ignites tensions.
Valencia rejects Netflix’s accusation against its fans.

Valencia Club issued an official statement firmly rejecting what it described as the distortion of its fans’ image in the Netflix documentary about Brazilian star Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid’s player. The statement explained that the film included footage from the Mestalla match in May 2023, which was presented inaccurately and misleadingly, demanding that the company immediately correct the mistake and issue a formal apology to the fans.
The club pointed out that the video clip used in the documentary contained incorrect subtitles unrelated to the fans’ actual chants. While the fans were chanting “Fool, fool,” the subtitles showed “Monkey, monkey,” causing significant harm to the reputation of Valencia’s supporters and unfairly offending them. The statement emphasized that the club reserves the full right to take all necessary legal actions to protect its fans and reputation, stressing that truth and respect must be the foundation when presenting such sensitive issues.
This escalation comes amid growing controversy over how media portray racism issues in football stadiums and its impact on the public image of clubs and their fans, especially with increased social awareness about the importance of fighting racism and refusing to justify it in any form. Valencia concluded its statement by calling for responsible and objective handling of these matters and firmly rejecting any attempts to tarnish its image and that of its supporters.
