Zamalek in Trouble: Goalkeepers’ Refusal Threatens Ahmed Eid Deal and Right-Back Reinforcement
Zamalek’s right-back deal for Ahmed Eid stalls as goalkeepers refuse to leave.
Zamalek Football Club is facing a serious challenge in strengthening the right-back position during the current summer transfer window. So far, the club’s management has failed to complete the signing of Ahmed Eid, the Egyptian club’s full-back, due to the firm refusal of Zamalek’s goalkeepers to leave and be part of a swap deal.
Zamalek had initially attempted to acquire Ahmed Eid through a direct exchange with Al-Masry, offering goalkeeper Mohamed Awad in return. However, Awad firmly rejected the move, despite not being a regular starter for the White Knights recently.
Following Awad’s refusal, the club shifted its attention to goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi as a potential part of the deal. But Sobhi also showed reluctance to depart from the team, even though he has reportedly attracted verbal interest from Saudi clubs such as Al-Okhdood and Damac. Nevertheless, no official offers have been submitted yet.
The situation is growing more complicated, especially with Zamalek in urgent need to reinforce the position before the new season kicks off. The deadlock caused by both goalkeepers’ desire to remain with the team is putting the entire deal at risk of collapsing.
