Zamalek Moves to Finalize Players’ Futures… Names Left Out of Initial Squad List
Zamalek is considering releasing several players as part of a restructuring plan aimed at achieving technical and financial gains.
Zamalek’s management has taken decisive steps to settle the future of several players set to leave during the current summer transfer window. Their names will be included in the first official squad list submitted to the Egyptian Football Association within hours, aiming to streamline the team’s core ahead of the new season.
This move is part of a clear strategy to avoid losing players without benefit, focusing instead on securing the best marketing deals—whether through local or international loans or swap deals to strengthen the squad with new talents aligned with the technical staff’s needs.
A source from within the club emphasized that Zamalek is keen to maximize the value of this process, especially amid the financial pressure facing most clubs. The club will not release any player deemed surplus without securing either financial return or technical reinforcement.
The initial list of players expected to leave includes: Mohamed Atef, Mohab Yasser, Mostafa El-Zenary, Hossam Ashraf, Hazem Osama, and Ahmed Refai. Further assessments are ongoing to determine additional departures based on the head coach’s evaluation.
The football committee, in coordination with the technical staff, is currently reviewing individual offers to ensure the club gains maximum benefit and builds a more balanced and competitive squad capable of contending for titles in the upcoming season.
