Farid al-Atrash belonged to al-Atrash family, a prominent family in the Druze Mountain in southern Syria, known as the Mountain of the Druze.

 

Father: Prince Fahd Farhan Bey Ismail al-Atrash

Mother: Princess Aliya al-Munzer, a singer with a beautiful voice.

Farid was born in Qarya in the Druze Mountain in 1917. He suffered from being separated from his father and had to move with his mother to Cairo to escape the French occupation. He faced financial hardships in his youth, even working in fabric sales and distributing advertisements.

 

🎤 His artistic career started at the Music Institute, where he quickly established himself as a distinguished oud player and recorded his first songs in 1934. He later entered the film industry, becoming one of its biggest stars.
