Kamal Selim (1913–1945) 🎬

Egyptian Film Director, considered one of the pioneers of realism in Egyptian cinema. He was born in Cairo and worked at Studio Misr during the 1930s with director Ahmed Badrakhan before starting his own directing career.

🎥 Waraa Al-Sitar (Behind the Curtain, 1937) – His directorial debut.

🎥 Al-Azeema (Determination, 1939) – The first realistic film in Egyptian cinema history, gaining critical and audience acclaim.

🎥 Shuhada’ Al-Gharam (Martyrs of Love, 1944)

🎥 Leilat Al-Jum’a (Friday Night, 1944)

🎥 Al-Bu’asa (Les Misérables, 1944) – Adapted from Victor Hugo's novel, translated by Hafez Ibrahim.

Kamal Selim passed away suddenly in 1945 at the age of 32 while directing Layla Bint Al-Fuqara (Layla, Daughter of the Poor), cutting short his promising career. 🎞️
