📖 Biography:
Grew up in Kafr Abu Gendy, Gharbia, as one of 25 siblings.
Loved music and singing from childhood, inspired by Mohamed Abdel Wahab and Umm Kulthum.
Studied at the Fuad I Institute of Music but left to work in musical bands and nightclubs.
Started his artistic career as a singer and composer in theater, later entering cinema with his debut film Saif El-Jallad (1944).
Founded Misrphon, the first Egyptian record company in the Middle East.
Composed the Algerian national anthem Kassaman, written by Moufdi Zakaria.

After his company Misrphon was nationalized in the early 1960s, he suffered severe depression that impacted his health.
Diagnosed with a rare disease (Retroperitoneal Fibrosis), later referred to as “Fawzi’s Disease”.
His weight dropped to 36 kg, and he passed away on October 20, 1966.
