The case of Egyptian singer Rahma Mohsen has taken a new turn following the submission of two official complaints to the Public Prosecutor by lawyers Mohamed Abu Bakr and Osama El-Sheshtawy, accusing her and her ex-husband Ahmed Farag of inciting debauchery and spreading immoral content.

According to the complaints, the couple appeared in several explicit videos that have circulated widely online, containing gestures and behavior considered offensive to public morals and in violation of Egypt’s social and religious values.

Although Rahma Mohsen claimed the videos were secretly recorded without her consent, the legal filings argue otherwise, asserting that a visual examination of the footage clearly shows her awareness and participation in the filming. The complaints also note that she continued to perform publicly at nightclubs even after the videos went viral, which the lawyers said demonstrates disregard for public outrage.

The lawyers further stated that the acts committed constitute criminal offenses under Egyptian law, specifically referencing articles from the Anti-Prostitution Law No. 10 of 1968, Article 178 of the Penal Code, and Article 25 of the Cybercrime Law, all of which criminalize indecent content and violations of family values.

They have called for an immediate judicial investigation, the summoning of both accused individuals for questioning, and the suspension of Rahma Mohsen’s public performances until the case is resolved, to preserve public morality and prevent further controversy.

Meanwhile, social media remains divided — with some users defending Rahma as a victim of exploitation and defamation, while others condemn her for crossing moral boundaries. The Public Prosecution is currently reviewing the two complaints before taking the next legal steps. ⚖️
