A Case Shaking Public Opinion.. "Yassin" at the Center of the Humanitarian Scene Amidst Widespread Emotional and Official Reactions

This morning, the first session of the trial for the accused in the shocking assault on "Yassin", a student at Al-Karma Private School in Damanhour, took place at the Damanhour Criminal Court, temporarily held at the Itay El-Baroud court in the Beheira Governorate. This case has become one of the hottest topics in Egyptian public opinion over the past few days.

Intense Attendance and Widespread Public Support
At the start of the session, dozens of citizens and activists gathered outside the courthouse to express their full solidarity with the child's family, calling for the harshest possible punishment for the defendant and justice for the child and his family. Some raised banners that read:
"Our children are a trust... Yassin's right will not be lost", and "Justice for innocence".
One of the locals said:
"What happened is not just a crime, it is a violation of the child's safety, which the school should protect. We are here to support Yassin and tell any offender: there will be no leniency when it comes to our children."

Child Yassin Attends the Session in a "Spider-Man" Costume Amidst His Family's Tears
In an emotional scene, the victim child arrived at the courtroom accompanied by his family, wearing his favorite "Spider-Man" costume, as a symbolic gesture that might give him some psychological strength.
Signs of worry and distress appeared on the child's face, while his mother was visibly broken and refused to make any statements, only telling one of the reporters:
"I will never forgive what happened to my son... he will never forget this for the rest of his life."
A family friend urged the attendees and the media:
"Please, no photography... Yassin is in very bad psychological condition, and his mother will not forgive if he is filmed. All we ask for is your prayers and justice."

The Defendant's Identity and Case Details
The defendant, named "Sabry K. J.A", is 79 years old and works as a financial supervisor at a religious institution in Beheira Governorate.
The details of the case date back to late 2024 when the child's guardian filed a report with the authorities, accusing a staff member at the school of sexually assaulting his son.
After extensive investigations by the Public Prosecution, with documented medical and psychological reports, the defendant was referred to criminal trial on charges of "molesting a child without force or threat" in case number 33773 of 2024, criminal case at Damanhour Center, and registered as case number 1946 of 2024.

Court's Position and Legal Proceedings
The session was presided over by Judge Sherif Kamel Adly, with the membership of Judges Ahmed Hassouna Azab, Adham Mohamed Said, and Mohamed Said Abdel Hamid. They listened to the preliminary pleadings, with a heavy security presence.
The court decided to postpone the case to continue hearing witnesses, defense, and prosecution requests, with emphasis on maintaining the confidentiality of the child's data and protecting him both psychologically and from media exposure.

Community Calls for Stricter Punishments and Child Protection
This case sparked a storm of reactions on social media, with "Yassin" trending, amid widespread sympathy and calls for reconsideration of safety systems within educational institutions and holding accountable any parties found negligent or complicit in covering up such crimes.
One of the human rights lawyers called for the establishment of independent prosecutors’ offices for child abuse cases, stating:
"Any delay in these kinds of cases worsens the psychological trauma for the victims and gives the offenders a chance to escape punishment."

In Conclusion: Yassin's Case Represents a Societal Outcry
The case of the Damanhour student is not just a trial but a reflection of the challenges children face within educational institutions.
It is a cry for urgent action to build a safe environment for our children, a space that preserves their dignity, protects their bodies, and safeguards their childhood from any harm.
