Erdogan: The conflict between Iran and Israel is nearing disaster.
Turkish President Erdogan warns that escalating tensions between Iran and Israel are nearing a dangerous stage threatening to slip into a point of no return, as the United States considers possibilities of direct involvement in the confrontation.
According to Turkish media reports, Erdogan emphasized that the ongoing massacres in Gaza and the related escalation with Iran are pushing the region to the brink of a wide explosion. He stressed that this madness must be stopped as soon as possible. He pointed out that the impact of continued escalation would not be limited to the Middle East but could extend its consequences to Europe and Asia for many years to come, warning of severe repercussions on regional and international stability.
Meanwhile, U.S. reports revealed that President Donald Trump remains hesitant to decide on launching a military strike against Iran, despite assessments that the operation was close to being executed. White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt’s statement that the president would finalize his decision within the next two weeks sparked many questions, especially amid expectations that the attack date was approaching.
According to the New York Post, the hesitation in decision-making is due to concerns expressed by Trump during meetings with his team, mainly fear of repeating the Libya scenario, where the country fell into chaos after the fall of leader Muammar Gaddafi. Trump also feared that any military intervention might lead to the rise of a more hardline Iranian leadership than the current one headed by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Sources indicated that Trump repeatedly recalled what happened in Libya in 2011, when the United States, led by former President Barack Obama in cooperation with NATO, intervened, resulting in Gaddafi’s fall and Libya’s descent into chaos despite its vast oil wealth. An informed source confirmed that Trump does not want Iran to suffer the same fate, warning of unpredictable consequences if the Iranian state collapses.
