The October Prosecution has launched an investigation into a fire that broke out inside a commercial shop in the Faisal area. A committee of forensic experts has been assigned to examine the fire's trajectory and determine its cause accurately, in addition to estimating the material losses incurred on goods and internal equipment. Preliminary inspections confirmed that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in one of the internal wiring connections, ruling out any criminal suspicion. However, the prosecution is still hearing testimonies from the shop owner and eyewitnesses to verify there was no technical negligence or violation of installation standards.

The emergency operations center received a report of flames erupting from the shop located in the Haram district. Several fire trucks and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene, where a security cordon was established, and firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze before it spread to nearby stores. No human injuries were reported, and the fire damage was limited to a portion of the furniture and displayed merchandise.

The prosecution also requested the local authorities and the governorate’s electricity officials to inspect the shop’s internal wiring network and verify its compliance with approved technical regulations. Surveillance cameras in the surrounding street were reviewed to gather visual evidence and determine the exact time the fire started.
The head of Civil Protection stated that fire crews faced difficulty reaching the scene quickly due to the narrow side streets, stressing the need for shop owners to review emergency plans and ensure clear evacuation routes. He urged all merchants to regularly maintain electrical wiring and equip their premises with modern fire extinguishers as a preventive measure.

Meanwhile, the insurance department began an initial assessment of potential compensations and reviewed a copy of the shop’s insurance policy to confirm coverage for the damages. The prosecution is expected to hold a final hearing with the owner later this week to determine legal responsibilities and receive recommendations from the technical committee regarding necessary safety measures before reopening the shop.

The October Prosecution confirmed it would conclude its investigations promptly and issue a final decision regarding legal actions and preventive measures, while coordinating with all relevant authorities to enforce safety requirements and prevent such incidents in the future.
