Russia: Escalation could lead to disaster
For his part, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Security Council, Vasily Nebenzya, expressed Moscow’s deep concern over what he described as repeated Israeli attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities. He warned that continued targeting of these facilities could lead to a nuclear disaster threatening the security of the region and the world, stressing the need to prevent the internationalization of the conflict between Tehran and Tel Aviv to avoid the expansion of the fighting.
Affirmation of support for Iran and criticism of the West
Nebenzya affirmed his country’s full support for Iran’s right to develop a nuclear program for peaceful purposes, expressing Russia’s readiness to participate in any diplomatic efforts aimed at defusing the crisis and reaching a solution acceptable to all parties. He criticized Israel’s position, holding Tel Aviv responsible for the escalation and for ignoring political initiatives.

Direct accusations against Western countries
In his statements, the Russian envoy pointed out that the United States and several major European countries, including Britain, France, and Germany, bear part of the responsibility for what is happening, as they have implicitly given Israel the green light to continue its attacks on Iranian facilities. Nebenzya called on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities and to examine the dangerous repercussions of these actions on the stability of the entire region.
