The Shubra El-Kheima Criminal Court, Seventh Circuit, sentenced a real estate dealer to life imprisonment and a fine of 500,000 EGP after convicting him of drug trafficking. This ruling came following the case presented before the court, chaired by Counselor Hany Fathi Abbas Matawa, with the membership of Counselors Ahmed Shahat Hilal and Magdy Hosni Fawzy, and the presence of Counselor Mohamed Saad El-Din Mohamed and Secretary of the Court, Maher El-Shoubery.
The sentence followed the referral of the defendants in case No. 6790 of 2024, filed with the First Obour Police Station. The first defendant, "Khaled M.A.S." (47 years old), a real estate dealer from Zarzara, Al-Tall Al-Kabir, Ismailia Governorate, was found guilty of possessing heroin with the intent to trade in it illegally on August 24, 2024, within the jurisdiction of the First Obour Police Station in Qalyubia Governorate. He was also charged with possessing cannabis hashish for the same purpose.
The second defendant, "Amar T.G.S." (24 years old), a contractor residing in the Family Housing District in 10th of Ramadan City, Sharqia Governorate, was similarly accused of possessing cannabis hashish with the intent to trade in it illegally. Both were referred to trial for these charges, which posed a threat to public safety and the community, especially considering the widespread issue of drug trafficking.
Investigations revealed that the defendants were operating a drug trafficking network within Qalyubia Governorate, with drugs in their possession ready for sale, constituting a serious crime that endangered public security. They were arrested during an anti-drug operation in the region.
During the trial, the Public Prosecution presented strong evidence against the defendants, including the seizure of drugs in their possession and evidence of their involvement in the drug trade. The court then issued its verdict: a life sentence for the real estate dealer, along with a fine of 500,000 EGP, a severe penalty in such cases.
This case is part of a series of efforts by judicial and security authorities to combat drug trafficking, aiming to eliminate this dangerous phenomenon that threatens public health and negatively impacts society.
