Meta Introduces AI Voice Translation for Reels on Facebook and Instagram
Meta has unveiled a new feature that translates Reels into multiple languages using AI, replicating the creator’s original voice to make content more global and authentic.
Meta has announced a new feature designed to make Reels on Facebook and Instagram more accessible worldwide by offering AI-powered voice translation into multiple languages.
The new tool allows users to watch videos in different languages while maintaining a voice that closely matches the creator’s original tone and style, creating a seamless and natural experience.
Initially launched in August with English–Spanish two-way translation, the feature has now expanded to include Hindi and Portuguese, with more languages expected soon.
The translation relies on voice cloning technology, reproducing the creator’s voice in another language while preserving tone and emotion. It also includes a lip-sync feature that aligns mouth movements with the translated audio.
This service is currently available for Facebook creators with over 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts in regions where Meta AI is active. Each translated video is clearly labeled as “Translated using AI”, and users can easily disable translations if they prefer to watch the original version.
According to Meta, this innovation aims to help creators expand their global reach without needing to record multiple versions of the same video, making social media platforms more connected and inclusive.
