Shady Zalta, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, denied all circulating claims on social media regarding the leakage of the preparatory (middle school) exams for the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. He clarified that these claims are completely false and emphasized that the ministry is keen on providing a safe and fair exam environment.
What does “leakage” actually mean?
Zalta explained that the term “leakage” refers to the exam paper leaving the control room before the official exam time, which has not happened at all this year. The circulated images are excerpts taken inside exam halls by some students who managed to illegally bring their mobile phones, which constitutes individual cheating attempts rather than official leaks.
Ministry’s measures to combat cheating
The spokesperson confirmed that the ministry deals firmly with any cheating attempt, and students caught violating rules are held accountable according to applicable laws. He stressed that cheating harms only the student themselves and does not affect the overall integrity of the exam.
The “booklet” system makes leakage difficult
It is worth noting that this year’s preparatory exams are conducted in most governorates using the “booklet” system, where the question paper and answer sheet are combined into one large booklet, making it difficult to photograph or leak exam content.
