Authorities in Giza Governorate are continuing their investigation into a 15-year-old girl known as “Nour Tofaha Al-Sahel” over allegations of inciting debauchery and immorality, violating family values, and misusing social media platforms. This comes after videos of her, considered provocative by many, went viral online, sparking widespread controversy.

During the interrogation, the girl expressed remorse and claimed she was unaware of the seriousness of her actions, stating: “I didn’t know this could get me jailed.” She explained that she acted without understanding the legal or social consequences, especially given her young age and lack of guidance or supervision.

The investigation revealed that Nour is a minor under Egypt’s Child Law No. 12 of 1996 and its amendments. She reportedly faced difficult circumstances from an early age, including being kicked out of her home by her father, which left her homeless and forced to live on the streets, trying to survive in the absence of any family or institutional support.
Her lawyer emphasized that she is more of a victim of her circumstances than a criminal, adding that the Public Prosecution is handling the case under the framework of child protection laws. These laws mandate providing psychological and social support to at-risk minors, including assistance from specialists during questioning.

The appearance of Nour, who has become known in the media as "Nour Tofaha," in several video clips on social media—where she performed dances and used language deemed inappropriate—triggered a wave of public outrage. Many viewed the content as a blatant violation of societal values, prompting swift action from security forces to apprehend her.

She was arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution, which immediately launched an investigation into the charges related to publishing indecent content, promoting deviant behavior, and harming public morals through digital platforms.

This case has reignited debate about parental responsibility, the influence of social media on adolescent behavior, and the urgent need for effective oversight and awareness programs to protect children from harmful digital trends—especially amid the growing reach of online content and its strong impact on young age groups.
