The Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced 11 defendants to two years in prison in the case known in the media as the "Ain Shams Brawl," which erupted inside a commercial store in the area. The incident began with a verbal dispute between an individual and the store workers, who were attempting to close the shop during prayer time — a situation that later escalated into a violent altercation.

Investigations revealed that the workers were preparing to close the doors in order to perform their prayers when one of the customers strongly objected, stating that there were still customers inside. One of the employees responded, "We're closing to pray," but the conversation quickly escalated into an exchange of insults, some of which were offensive, and eventually led to a physical confrontation.

Despite efforts by local residents and bystanders to calm the situation, the incident spiraled out of control, with both sides using glass bottles and fireworks. This caused damage to the storefronts of nearby shops, although no civilian injuries were reported, according to security authorities.
One of the defendants admitted during the investigation to being involved in the initial verbal exchange, while another denied any participation in the incident, stating that he was a high school student who happened to be at the location by coincidence and did not take part in the fight. He claimed he tried to distance himself as soon as the violence began.

After videos of the altercation circulated on social media documenting the events, security forces responded swiftly. Upon investigation, it was found that the brawl had taken place between a group of young men and the owner of a mobile phone store along with three of his employees. Both parties reportedly used sharp objects, glass bottles, and fireworks in the altercation.

The authorities managed to contain the situation and arrested all individuals involved at the scene. An official report was filed, and the suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution, which in turn decided to refer them for an expedited trial.

The verdict issued against the defendants underscores that the law does not tolerate acts of violence or assaults on others, particularly when such actions threaten societal peace or risk causing disorder within residential neighborhoods. The ruling also serves as a deterrent aimed at protecting public order and property from unlawful behavior.
