In a shocking case that reveals the dangers of fleeting relationships and the misuse of technology for harm, a young woman turned to security authorities seeking protection after becoming a victim of blackmail and threats from a man she was emotionally involved with. The man, who works at a restaurant, exploited the trust the woman had placed in him during their relationship by keeping private photos of her. He later began blackmailing her and threatening to publish the images on social media if she did not meet his financial demands.

The woman, left with no choice, filed a complaint at the Boulaq El-Dakror police station, reporting that the man was explicitly blackmailing her by demanding money in exchange for "silence" and not publishing her photos. Upon receiving the complaint, Major General Sameh El-Hamili, Assistant Minister of Interior and Director of Giza Security, ordered a swift investigation and immediate action to apprehend the suspect and end the victim’s ordeal.
Investigations conducted by the Giza Criminal Investigation Department uncovered details of the relationship between the woman and the suspect, which had ended some time ago but turned into a nightmare as he repeatedly sent threatening messages. With a carefully planned security operation, the police successfully located and arrested the suspect, who confessed to his crime and the details of the case before the officers.

An official report was filed, and the suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution, which has taken over the investigation in preparation for presenting him to the relevant judicial authorities to take the necessary legal measures against him.

The case once again highlights the issue of electronic blackmail and emphasizes the urgent need for community awareness regarding the dangers of excessive trust, especially in informal relationships, and the importance of exercising caution when sharing any personal data or photos, particularly through digital means.
