In a swift response reflecting the state’s concern for its citizens and its commitment to easing the suffering of affected families, Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, issued a decision to disburse urgent compensation of EGP 100,000 to the family of each deceased victim in the horrific accident that took place on the Regional Road in the Ashmoun district of Menoufia Governorate, which claimed the lives of 19 people and left others with varying injuries.

The minister stressed the need for immediate implementation of the compensation orders without delay, assigning the Head of the Central Administration for Social Protection to oversee the disbursement of compensation to the injured as well, in accordance with the medical reports for each case. This is part of the state’s social protection umbrella for families affected by disasters and serious accidents.

This measure coincides with the ongoing efforts of the Egyptian Red Crescent teams, which were among the first responders at the scene. They immediately began providing psychological and relief support to the injured and the families of the victims. Intensive efforts are being made to comfort the residents and provide psychological and social support, especially given the traumatic impact of the accident on the village that lost several of its members, including young women who were on their way to run errands for their families before their journey turned into a heartbreaking tragedy.

In a humanitarian gesture reflecting responsibility and solidarity, the Minister of Social Solidarity visited the village of Kafr El-Sanabsa in the Monuf district, heading a high-level delegation that included representatives of the Egyptian Red Crescent and an envoy from the Cabinet. She offered condolences to the families of the victims and discussed the available financial and moral support provided by the state, affirming that the government will spare no effort in offering all necessary assistance during these difficult times.
An informed source confirmed that the minister was keen during her meetings to follow up on the situation of the affected families on the ground and listened to their needs and demands. She also recommended intensifying field visits by rapid response teams to monitor the psychological state of the children, survivors, and family members, as part of the ministry's emergency response plan.

For his part, Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon, Governor of Menoufia, expressed his deep sorrow and sympathy over this tragic incident, offering his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. He prayed that God may have mercy on them and grant the injured a speedy recovery, affirming that all executive bodies in the governorate are on high alert to monitor the developments of the accident and provide the necessary support to the victims and their families.

The accident, which occurred on Friday, brought renewed attention to the importance of adhering to road safety measures and the need to intensify traffic oversight, particularly on highways, to protect citizens’ lives and prevent such humanitarian catastrophes from recurring.
