With the launch of the first phase of university and institute admissions coordination, the Coordination Office issued a detailed report on the faculties accepting students from the Engineering stream, based on official data published on the electronic coordination website, providing a clear overview for students and parents about available admission opportunities.
The Coordination Office set the minimum acceptance score for students of the Scientific stream under the new system at 293 marks or more, equivalent to 91.56%, with 21,853 students applying in this category, reflecting the intense competition for limited seats in these faculties. For Engineering stream students, the minimum acceptance score was 283 marks or more, equal to 88.44%, with a total of 16,577 students. Meanwhile, the minimum acceptance for students in the Literary stream was 233 marks or more, or 72.81%, with a total of 54,073 students. Thus, the total number of students under the new system in this phase reached 92,503, highlighting the high demand and strong desire to enroll in various faculties.
Regarding students of the old General Secondary Education system, the minimum acceptance score for the Scientific stream was 350 marks or more, equivalent to 85.37%, with 1,411 students. For the Engineering stream, the minimum score was 335 marks or more, equal to 81.71%, totaling 280 students. Students of the Literary stream had a minimum acceptance score of 270 marks or more, or 65.85%, with 527 students. Hence, the total number of accepted students under the old system in this phase reached 2,218 students.
Accordingly, the total number of students eligible to apply in the first phase of coordination, combining both new and old systems, is 94,721 students competing for available seats in public universities and faculties. This reflects the scale of challenges facing students in selecting specializations that match their scores and academic aspirations.
The Ministry of Higher Education has enabled students to register their preferences via the electronic coordination website using personal computers, available 24 hours a day, providing maximum flexibility and ease in completing the application procedures. Additionally, coordination labs are available in public universities, operating from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, offering technical support and assistance to students and parents to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted process.
These procedures and data demonstrate the concerned authorities’ keenness to organize university admissions accurately and transparently, amid large numbers of competing students, to ensure a fair and scientific distribution of educational opportunities that serve the goals of development and advancement in the higher education system.
