The Health Magazine has unveiled eight common myths about our daily eating habits, emphasizing that many widely believed nutrition ideas are scientifically inaccurate.

1. Eating at night causes weight gain
The magazine clarified that this is a nutrition myth — weight gain occurs when calorie intake exceeds expenditure, regardless of meal timing. Avoiding nighttime meals may even lead to overeating the next morning.

2. Gluten-free foods are healthier
Gluten-free products are not always healthier, as they contain similar levels of fat, sugar, and calories as regular foods. They are suitable mainly for people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance.

3. Skipping meals helps with weight loss
Skipping meals puts the body in “starvation mode”, slowing metabolism and encouraging fat storage. Eating small, balanced meals helps maintain energy and appetite control.

4. All processed foods are unhealthy
Not all processed foods are bad — items like frozen vegetables and natural peanut butter can be nutritious and convenient.

5. Fats lead to weight gain
There’s a distinction between healthy fats (avocados, nuts, olive oil) that support satiety, and unhealthy fats (fried or packaged foods) that promote weight gain.

6. Cutting out sugar completely is healthy
Although excess sugar is harmful, the body still needs some sugar for energy. Experts recommend reducing added sugars while relying on natural sources like fruits and vegetables.

7. Eating more protein builds muscle
Protein alone doesn’t build muscle — exercise is essential alongside a protein-rich diet to increase muscle mass.

8. Everyone needs 8 cups of water daily
Water needs vary depending on age, activity level, health, and climate. Many foods, like fruits and vegetables, also help keep the body hydrated.

The report concluded that balanced nutrition and moderation are key, rather than following unverified diet myths.
