A concerning medical incident has brought attention to the hidden dangers of certain household fragrance products after a 3-year-old child was admitted to intensive care following sudden seizure episodes.
The child unexpectedly collapsed at home and experienced a seizure lasting several minutes, prompting immediate medical intervention. Although her condition initially stabilized, she suffered additional seizures shortly after, leading doctors to conduct thorough examinations.
Blood tests revealed elevated levels of salicylates, chemical compounds that can be found in various household products. These findings pointed toward a possible poisoning case, particularly concerning for young children due to their heightened sensitivity.
Further investigation revealed that the child had been repeatedly exposed to incense smoke داخل her room, leading to a gradual buildup of these compounds in her body. This resulted in what is known as chronic salicylate poisoning, a condition that develops over time and can be more dangerous than acute exposure.
Medical experts explained that this type of poisoning may not be immediately detectable but can cause severe complications, including neurological disturbances, seizures, respiratory issues, and even multi-organ dysfunction.
They also warned that inhaling smoke from such products allows harmful substances to enter the body through the lungs and spread to vital organs like the liver, kidneys, and heart, increasing health risks over time.
Experts stress the importance of monitoring indoor environments, especially for children, and reducing exposure to smoke and strong fragrances in enclosed spaces to prevent such hidden health threats.
