Recent research has revealed that ibuprofen — one of the world’s most common over-the-counter painkillers — may play a protective role against certain cancers due to its strong anti-inflammatory properties. Scientists explained that chronic inflammation is a key factor in the development of cancer cells, and reducing it could help prevent tumor formation.

According to the findings, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen inhibit “COX” enzymes that trigger inflammation. However, medical professionals warn that these medications must be used with caution and under medical supervision to avoid serious side effects such as stomach ulcers and kidney damage.

The study also noted that women who regularly took ibuprofen had a 25% lower risk of developing endometrial cancer, particularly those with heart disease or obesity, while aspirin did not show the same preventive effect.

Experts cautioned against excessive or prolonged use of ibuprofen, emphasizing that it may lead to internal bleeding or heart complications, and advised consulting a doctor before long-term use.
