The court continues to hear the drug manufacturing case involving Suzy Khalifa and others, as defense pleadings revealed new legal angles, including the submission of a ruling banning disposal of certain defendants’ assets and questioning the integrity of investigations.
A defense lawyer stated that the investigation officer provided inaccurate information, claiming her client was unemployed and residing in Al-Nozha while also attributing several properties in October City to him, a contradiction she said undermines the basis of the arrest warrant.
The defense added that although the investigator told prosecutors he personally monitored the defendant, he failed to answer key questions before the court, raising doubts about the credibility of the procedures followed.
Lawyers also pointed out that the investigator did not explain how he entered the searched property to arrest the defendant, describing this omission as a serious legal flaw affecting the validity of the search and seizure.
The defense further questioned how other defendants were investigated and whether proper legal standards were followed in collecting and linking evidence to the case.
In a notable move, the lawyer submitted an original economic court ruling dated April 17, 2025, banning three defendants and their minor children from disposing of their assets, arguing that the decision impacts their legal position in the ongoing case.
Meanwhile, another defense team requested that all seized items be referred to forensic authorities and reviewed by a specialized committee, along with a detailed inventory connecting each exhibit to a specific defendant.
They stressed that ambiguity in the evidence prevents proper defense preparation and undermines fair trial guarantees.
The eighth defendant denied being arrested in Cairo, saying she was in Alexandria at the time and asked the court to verify the vehicle route involved in the arrest.
Defense lawyers also argued that phone communications cited in the case relate to real estate business and contain no technical proof of drug manufacturing or use.
The court continues to hear arguments as both sides await further rulings in one of the most closely watched cases.
