Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has intensified its nationwide operations targeting illegal foreign currency trading outside the official banking system, as part of its ongoing efforts to protect the national economy from speculative activities and currency manipulation.

In a statement, the ministry reported that the General Security Sector, in cooperation with the General Administration for Combating Public Funds Crimes and local security directorates, managed within 24 hours to seize several cases of illegal foreign currency trading with a total value exceeding EGP 10 million.

All necessary legal procedures have been taken against the suspects, and the cases have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.

Additionally, the ministry announced further operations that uncovered cases worth around EGP 5 million, reaffirming its determination to combat all forms of currency speculation and ensure the stability of Egypt’s financial system.

The Interior Ministry emphasized that these efforts are part of a comprehensive plan to support national economic policies and preserve the strength of the Egyptian pound by eliminating illegal market activities that distort currency exchange rates.
