Egyptian security authorities in Giza have launched a full investigation into the theft of a villa belonging to a German diplomatic attaché, after he reported the disappearance of several valuable items from his residence located in a secured compound in 6th of October City.
According to initial reports, the diplomat, identified as Stefan, notified local police that he had discovered the theft upon returning home. Among the stolen items were two luxury-brand watches, silver jewelry, and an iPhone.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the property and conducted a comprehensive forensic examination, including fingerprint collection and a detailed inspection of entry points, as the villa is situated within a gated community known for tight security.
Authorities are also reviewing surveillance footage from the compound’s cameras to identify any suspicious movements during the timeframe of the theft. Additionally, domestic staff and frequent visitors are being questioned to narrow down potential suspects.
Preliminary findings indicate no signs of forced entry, suggesting the involvement of someone with access or familiarity with the property, which has directed the investigation toward internal suspects.
The Public Prosecution has ordered a special task force to continue the investigation in cooperation with the General Security Sector, given the diplomatic nature of the case. Officials emphasized that the investigation is ongoing around the clock to recover the stolen items and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The incident underscores the importance of tightened security measures for diplomatic residences and luxury compounds, especially amid rising reports of targeted property thefts in Egypt’s high-end neighborhoods.
