Man Arrested in Minya for Impersonating Bank Employee in 4 Cyber Fraud Cases
Egyptian Interior Ministry arrested a suspect in Minya for impersonating a bank employee and defrauding citizens by stealing their electronic payment card data in four separate cases.
As part of ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime, Egypt’s Interior Ministry has arrested a man in Minya Governorate accused of defrauding citizens using a bank employee impersonation scheme.
Fraud Scheme Using Bank Identity
Investigations revealed that the suspect, residing in El-Adwa police district, posed as a customer service representative at a bank, contacting victims under the pretext of updating their banking information or offering loans and financial assistance.
Stealing Financial Data
The suspect managed to obtain victims’ electronic payment card details, allowing him to unlawfully withdraw and steal their funds through fraudulent methods.
Arrest and Evidence
After legal procedures, the suspect was arrested in possession of two mobile phones. Forensic examination revealed evidence confirming his criminal activity. He admitted to committing four similar fraud cases.
Legal Action
All necessary legal measures were taken, and the case was referred to the public prosecution for investigation.
