The Economic Misdemeanors Court postponed the first session of Mourtada Mansour’s defamation trial today, following allegations of insults and defamation made against TV host Amr Adib on social media. The next hearing is scheduled for March 2 for review and civil claims.
The case follows an official complaint filed by Amr Adib, detailing offensive statements considered defamatory under the Egyptian Penal Code and the Cybercrime Law.
In a statement, Mansour highlighted that the complaint was directed not only against Amr Adib but also against the chairman and general manager of MBC Egypt & North Africa, emphasizing that the broadcast episode contained insults, defamation, and threats.
Mansour noted that the dispute partly stems from the 6th of October land issue linked to Zamalek Club and criticized the content for violating media ethics, prompting legal action to hold the responsible parties accountable.
