In a case that stirred public concern, the Public Prosecutor ordered immediate action after two video clips circulated on Instagram claiming incidents of verbal harassment, indecent assault, and attempted rape allegedly committed by a faculty member at a private university’s law school.
Cairo Appeals Prosecution began inquiries promptly, hearing testimonies from the Dean of the Law Faculty, a faculty member, and the university’s security director. All confirmed that no complaints matching these claims had been filed, and that the individual who published the videos —a former graduate residing abroad— failed to provide concrete evidence, submitting only vague and unsubstantiated statements which he had already posted online.

The university stated that it formally urged students and faculty members to report any related concerns confidentially, yet no one came forward, prompting the institution to file a complaint against the publisher for spreading false information and defaming the university.

The prosecution also heard the testimony of the faculty member targeted in the accusations, as well as a former graduate whose statements were based solely on what she saw in the published videos, confirming she had never experienced any form of harassment or assault.

To date, no victim has submitted an official complaint. The Public Prosecution continues its investigations, urging anyone with relevant evidence to come forward, ensuring full confidentiality of personal data and strict legal protection.
