Youssef maintains that he had no knowledge of the incident and denies any connection to the use of the phone number.
According to his account, the company filed a police report in January 2023. Investigators later traced the phone number used in the incident and found that it was registered under Youssef's name.
Youssef: “I Knew Nothing About the Crime”
Youssef says the incident took place in the Tenth of Ramadan area and El Hosary, while he was living in Fayoum and studying in Mokattam.
He maintains that he had no connection to the alleged crime and that the registration of the phone line under his name was the main reason he became involved in the case.
An Absence Conviction and Three-Year Sentence
The case came as a shock
Youssef says he was later surprised when people came to his home and informed him that a case had been filed against him. He subsequently learned that he had been sentenced in absentia to three years in prison.
After hiring lawyers, appeal procedures began in February 2025. Youssef says his defense requested material evidence linking him to the incident, including photographs, recordings, signatures or other documents.

According to Youssef, his lawyers also requested the official contract for the phone line in order to challenge its authenticity. He says the request was not carried out, and the case eventually resulted in a one-year prison sentence.

Youssef was released from prison on February 12, 2026. However, he says his legal troubles continued after an air-conditioning company filed a civil compensation lawsuit against him seeking EGP 2 million.

Youssef, however, continues to deny involvement in the alleged crime and says he does not want to pay money for an incident he maintains he did not commit.

He also filed a compensation lawsuit seeking EGP 10 million and took steps to appeal the compensation case filed against him.

Youssef Appeals for Help Before the Next Hearing
As the next hearing approaches, Youssef is appealing to the Governor of Fayoum to take an interest in his case and help him obtain the document he considers essential to establishing his position.
He says he will continue pursuing all available legal procedures and will not give up his efforts to restore his rights and protect the future he believes was severely affected by the case.
